Gia Woods is that pop girl I’m going to need you all to stan next.
I haven’t properly written about the 22-year-old Persian talent on here yet, although if you’ve dived into my most recent Queer Necessities playlist for Billboard Pride, you’ve definitely seen her name. So, let’s change that.
Gia first caught my attention in 2015 when she came out to her fans, as well as her family, in a song called “Only A Girl” and its deliciously steamy video. Since then, she’s taken some time to perfect her craft to return with a full body of work in 2019.
Everything about Gia‘s revival feels spot-on with the kick-starter “Jump the Fence,” a fresh and breathy pop earworm packed with tribal-like pulsations and distant howls that matches the musical climate while maintaining an undeniable edge.
This week, Gia‘s done it yet again with the release of latest single “New Girlfriend.” The track, which was written alongside Trey Campbell and Steph Jones, feels fresh too, but in a different way with its sultry and sensual verses and finger-snapping, disco-tinged strut.
“I like your new girlfriend more than you/ I like, I like, I like her more than you…” she mightily declares on the hook. Ariana Grande‘s “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored” is shaking in it’s boots, quite frankly.
This girl’s just got it all, so if you’re not already aboard the Gia train, i’m going to need you to get to steppin’ now. She’s the tits.
