Remember Fleur East?
She’s the promising X Factor UK hopeful responsible for supplying us with the irresistible “Sax” all the way back in 2015.
Since dropping her debut album Love, Sax and Flashbacks, the English starlet has kept things pretty quite on the music front, only returning to the limelight for a stint in the jungle on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. But now, it appears Fleur East is finally ready to get the ball rolling all over again.
“Favourite Thing” is her first big release since leaving the creative trap that is Simon Cowell‘s SyCo – and it’s a proper SMASH.
Written by Fleur alongside Phil Plested and Dayo Olatunji, and produced by Red Triangle, the track is a brilliant fusion of infectious dance beats, tribal drums and African chants, all held together with Fleur‘s intoxicating melodies. You’ll be putting this one on re-pea-pea-peat, that’s for sure.
“The song has influences from my mother’s side of my family in Ghana. My mum has always made sure I know a lot about my heritage. It’s really anthemic and upbeat,” Fleur said in a statement. “I’m so grateful to be starting 2019 in the position I’m in. I really feel like people got to see the real me in the jungle. I’m so much stronger as a person now and I’m really happy with my new music.”
Nailed it! Welcome back, Fleur!
