We’ve been patiently waiting for the release of Tinashe‘s long-delayed sophomore album, Joyride, for what feels like forever now after she first announced it back in September of 2015 – And unfortunately, it still doesn’t seem like it’s coming anytime soon.
In the meantime, Tinashe has decided to entertain us with a brand new track called “Light The Night Up,” her first release since “Flame” back in March.
As the title and cover art suggests, it’s a gleaming club track all about getting all riled up and, yes, lighting up the night. “We could light the night up, woah, woah/ We could light the night up, woah-oh-oh,” she chants across the dance production that brings to mind those cheesy, Euro-techno club anthems from the ’90’s rather than anything you’d expect to hear on current Top 40 radio. Sorry not sorry…
It’s certainly not your typical, R&B-leaning Tinashe affair, that’s for sure. The good news is that this is NOT a new Tinashe single, nor is it expected to be a part of Joyride. In fact, it’s the new theme song for the NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football broadcast. So if you’re into that sort of thing, get used to hearing this a lot. If not, forget you were ever here.
