LÉON has been steadily revealing cuts from her forthcoming EP due out this fall, single by single. So far, we’ve heard the rousing, gospel-like “Surround Me” and superbly great slice of melancholy “Body” – one of my absolute faves from her yet!
This week, the talented Swedish singer-songstress is back at it yet again with the next taste off of the EP: “I Believe In Us,” a deeper and more emotional cut which sees LÉON‘s typically boisterous production taking the backseat to her delicate and soulful vocals. “I Believe In Us” abounds in soft pads and a gorgeous piano melody, showcasing a more reserved and personal side of her artistry, much like “Liar” off her For You EP.
As for the song’s lyrical theme, it’s all about standing by a crossroad, not knowing where you are going with your partner or just in general, a relatable sentiment for anyone whose been through it with a loved one.
“I was going through some stuff earlier this year when I just ended my tour,” LÉON said in a statement. “I had a lot on my mind and my emotions were kind of all over the place. That’s when ‘I Believe In Us’ came about. I’m always very honest in my writing, but it was almost scary to say some of the things that I’m saying in this song — even if it’s full of hope. It’s a song that means so much to me, and now I finally get to share it with the world.”
