Before the month comes to an end, here are some of the beautifully talented Black queer artists featured on the July edition of my #QueerNecessities playlist. I’ve been highlighting these artists individually on my stories for the past few weeks. I hope you were able to make some new discoverers this month. 😭 My blog, jonalisblog.com, turned 14 yesterday 😭 These are some gems by 📸 @baez_photo & @thebeaunextdoor that we teamed up on to celebrate one of the anniversary’s back in ‘17. For those of you who don’t know: My blog is my little baby that led me into everything that I do now. I started it in 2006 (when I was just 16) mostly out of boredom. Eventually as the years went on, I was fortunate enough to build an audience and moved forward by taking it seriously in a more professional sense. It led to insane opportunities, like interviewing legends @madonna @ladygaga @robynkonichiwa (to name a few), working with @billboard, @justjared, and eventually, encouraged me to start DJing. I’m not 100% sure what I’d be doing now if I didn’t keep it going. Over the past few months, I’ve been able to have more time for it and it’s reignited my love for blogging 🥰 Obvi times have changed and blogging for myself doesn’t pay the bills anymore, but I’m forever grateful for those of you who have stuck around to support it and me. Seriously, thank you 🙏🏽 you’ve given this gay brown boy a voice! I shall never waste it! Much love 💕

Back home 🏠 in NYC. Spent about three months hiding away in PA at @crystalakecottage with @dallas_nyc 💕 This view was one of the few things giving me some peace of mind on some of my hardest days. I’d be lying if I said I felt okay these past three months. Like many, this quarantine has made me question my future, it has heightened insecurities and my thoughts of self-doubt. I left with a better understanding of how to take care of myself and I’m grateful for that. It’s okay to not be okay all the time babes!
