Queer Necessities: Jon Ali’s March 2021 Playlist, Featuring Dee Gatti & More!

It’s about that time to refresh Queer Necessities, my monthly LGBTQ-focused playlist where I catch you up on the latest releases by rising queer talent and fierce allies.

The cover star this month is Dee Gatti, an impressive R&B singer-songwriter who has just begun making her mark in music. Hailing from Fort Worth, Texas, Dee is poised to be the next breakout R&B superstar. Growing up in a single-parent home with 5 brothers and sisters, Dee and her family relied on each other to get through tough times. With her family being the most important thing, her main goal has been to support them turning to music as a way to rise above the innumerable hardships she faced growing up in poverty.

Dee is kicking off this new chapter in her career by prepping the release of debut EP, Just Called To Say, with lead single: “Clear My Mind,” an intimate and slow-burning alt-R&B produciton driven by tripping hip-hop beats, atmospherics and sweet melodies.

“I literally made ‘Clear My Mind‘ thinking about how I was feeling at that time about relationships I had been a part of,” Dee Gatti said in a statement. “You don’t have to always talk about love itself to talk about what it does to you.”

There’s plenty more where “Clear My Mind” came from so get familiar with her name now if you haven’t already! This month’s selections also include new singles from Tiana Blake, Starrah, Siena Liggins, Daya, Brittany Howard, Kodi James, Reece, Arlissa, Mila Jam, Boy Untitled and much more!
