As we say goodbye to spooky season and head towards winter, it’s time to get into some new music.
To keep you satisfied all month long, I’m proud to present the November edition of Queer Necessities, my monthly LGBTQ-focused playlist where I catch you up on the latest releases by rising queer talent and fierce allies.
The cover star this month is Grammy-nominated singer-songstress Tayla Parx, who I introduced back in May with her irresistible lead single “Dance Alone” and is fresh off the release of her official follow-up: “Residue,” a powerful stripped-back pop confessional that is set to lead us into her new album, COPING MECHANISMS, due out on November 20th.
“After a recent breakup, I found myself having the deep desire to cleanse my life of all things that reminded me of my ex. That’s one of the ways I cope. But I found that no matter how many items and photos I dumped, there was no escaping this person,” Tayla told Jon Ali in a statement about “Residue.” “No matter what I did, they left a residue. But recognizing that this person contributed something to my journey in life at one point, helped me heal and move on.”
There’s plenty more where “Residue” came from so get familiar with her name now if you haven’t already! This month’s selections also include new singles from MNEK, FHAT, Trapcry, Shea Diamond, thomboi, Iman, Arlo Parks, Tafari Anthony, Wuhryhn Dumas, Jaewynn and much more.
