Sam Smith Breaks Free From Their ‘Diamonds’ On New Single!

That long-awaited Sam Smith album is finally going to see the light of day.

Delays aside (Thanks Covid-19), the 28-year-old Oscar winner has managed to stay consistent in their pop serving game. From “Dancing With a Stranger” with Normani to “How Do You Sleep?” to “I’m Ready” with Demi Lovato to the most recent release, “My Oasis” with Burna Boy – they’re all killer in their own special way.

On this oh so blessed #NewMusicFriday (September 18), we’ve been given further access into the Sam‘s highly anticipated third record, the newly titeld Love Goes (out on October 30), with the release of “Diamonds“!

Crafted with a team of pop heavyweights – Shellback, Oscar Görres and Oscar HolterSam masterfully liberates themselves from a former love whose intentions weren’t pure of heart.

Take all the money you want from me / Hope you become what you want to be / Show me how little you care,” they insist before the song bursts into its sparkling dance-pop strut. “My diamonds leave with you (Mmm)/ You’re never gonna hear my heart break (Mmm)/ Never gonna move in dark ways (Mmm)/ Baby, you’re so cruel/ My diamonds leave with you…

The album’s 17 songs were written over the course of the past two years, according to the press release. The pandemic gave Sam a fresh perspective on the album and impacted both its title and the recording of tracks such as the recently released “My Oasis.”

As Smith details in this announcement, “Every time I went into the studio I promised myself I would shoot for the stars and have no limitations… I am sorry it’s taken a while. But these unprecedented times gave me the room and space to fall in love with these songs all over again…After it all I still believe love is the answer. And with love in our hearts and kindness in our words and actions, we sing on.”

Diamonds” is beautifully triumphant in its own right, but when packaged together with all the other songs we’ve been given – there’s no doubt that in my mind that Love Goes will wind up being one of Sam Smith‘s very best.
