‘Over Now’: Calvin Harris & The Weeknd Supply Breakup For The Dance Floor

It’s The Weeknd‘s year and he isn’t planning on going anywhere anytime soon…

His latest record, After Hours, is already one of the best releases of 2020: Between “Heartless,” the unstoppable “Blinding Lights,” and my personal fave “In Your Eyes” — the record’s right on track to snatch all the awards in 2021.

Now, there’s another major cut to add to the mix: “Over Now” with Calvin Harris.

Yes, Mega-hit-maker Clavin Harris, who’s provided us with countless gems with A-list collaborators over the past few years, has teamed up with the R&B crooner for a little groove on the dance floor – and to no one’s surprise, they make for a killer combo in the studio.

Over Now” is an incredibly casual, laid-back disco groove destined to become one of the summer’s late top contender: Gliding across shimmering strings, slick guitar riffs and a light electronica pulsation, The Weeknd lays down his velvety smooth, inviting vocals across the post break-up throb. “‘Cause it’s over now, oh yeah/ Don’t get too confused, girl, it’s over now, oh yeah, uh/ No comin’ back around, baby/ Nothin’ left to lose, girl, it’s over now (Oh yeah, yeah)…,” he croons.

It’s Calvin‘s Funk Wav Sounds brought into 2020, basically. I’m here for it!

Calvin Harris & The Weeknd’s “Over Now” is available on all streaming services now!
