It’s been six incredibly long, emotionally draining years without Jazmine Marie Sullivan — but thankfully (with very little warning), she’s finally returned with something new: “Lost One,” he first taste of what’s to come from her upcoming EP, and… oof. You’re going to need to sit down for this one babes!
“Lost One” is a painful, gut-wrenchingly vulnerable ballad, set across a solemn guitar melody. It’s a slow-moving and stripped-down production that keeps the focus entirely on the vocals at hand.
“Just don’t have too much fun without me/ Don’t have too much, don’t have too much fun/ Please don’t forget about me…,” she cries out. “Try not to love no one/ Oh-oh, try not to love no one…“
We all know that Jazmine is genuinely one of the best singers in the industry, and this is certainly further proof of that. PERIOD! Those runs at the end of the song, especially, are downright chilling. If you don’t know, you better get familiar.
It’s simply gorgeous and oh so devastating. A beautiful emotional punch. You’ve been warned!
