‘Say Something’: Kylie Minogue Returns With An Enchanting ‘DISCO’ Escape!

Cause love is love, it never ends… Can we all be as one again?

And just like that, our beloved Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue has returned at last.

After months of teasing, rumors and subtle hints, Kylie is indeed back in full force with the release of “Say Something,” the lead single from her forthcoming fifteenth studio album, DISCO, due out November 6th.

Longtime Little Minogue‘s yearning for a dance-pop fix ought to be thoroughly satisfied: The Biff Stannard (“Love At First Sight“) co-penned and co-produced gem sees Kylie revisiting Fever era like levels of disco-pop euphoria, layered between slick guitar riffs and warm waves of synths. The song glitters with a classic kind of disco-lite sheen while still relishing in some modern atmopherics — and of course, those signature angelic Minogue coos.

It’s a welcome return to classic Kylie after a less favored foray into folk-pop with her 2018 record Golden. “We wrote it last year. It’s like this gigantic song, and yet it’s very heartfelt at the same time,” Kylie explained to BBC Radio this morning. “I think – when you see the video, which will be a week or two away – it’s like a galactic disco. I think it’s about all of our eternal quest for love, and that there’s something or someone out there that you can relate to.”

‘Cause love is love, it never ends (Woah, woah, woah, woah, yeah)/ Can we all be as one again?,” Queen Kylie chants across the enchanting production. Each time she hits those lyrics, the song swells with more voices and more gorgeous production. And by the time she reaches that final build (“Say, say, say something!“), she’s truly taken us to church. Do you feel the fever!?!

We needed this. It’s a perfect musical hug for the present moment – without even trying. Thank you, Kylie <3
