Get into Foxgluvv, an unapologetically queer DIY pop artist who has created the perfect score for your late night party with her signature “hungover-pop” sound. (I know — sounds good, right?)
In an attempt to raise spirits during these uncertain times, Foxgluvv has just dropped her latest single “Don’t Text Back“! In what is now her first release of 2020, following her debut EP I Never Felt Hollywood released last year, the sapphic pop princess and her long-term collaborator Scott Colcombe set out to polish a cheeky, laid-back pop throb that is also highly relatable, especially in a time where our main source of communication is currently our phones.
“‘Don’t Text Back‘ expresses the nerve-racking anticipation of a reply to a risky text,” Foxgluvv said in a statement. “Whether you’re waiting for a response to a text-argument, flirty messages or receiving news, we can all relate to that feeling in the pit of our stomachs when we’re not quite sure how somebody is going to reply.”
Along with its highly relatable message, the track also serves as a great addition to the summer season, equipped with a sheen of sunny synths and a hot funky strut of a beat.
In honour of both Pride Month and the Black Lives Matter movement, proceeds from the Bandcamp release of the single will go to UK Black Pride.
“With the importance of uplifting the BLM movement and also wanting to recognise Pride Month, I wanted to attempt to use the release of ‘Don’t Text Back’ for some good,” Foxgluvv told Jon ALi. “My new single is now on Bandcamp to purchase, with an exclusive B side track ‘Crush 2.0’, to raise money for UK Black Pride @ukblackpride. Black Lives Matter, Black LGBTQ+ Lives Matter. Please visit foxgluvv.bandcamp.com to donate and support.”
