‘sadder badder cooler’: Tove Lo Remains A Cool Girl Through Heartbreak!

It’s evidently not enough that Carly Rae Jepsen already blessed our unworthy ears with Dedicated Side B this week. Or that Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande dropped their much-buzzed and much-needed collaboration, “Rain On Me.” Or that Mariah Carey‘s Glitter soundtrack album is finally available for streaming.

No. Our faves had to keep on giving us more! Fave in question? Tove Lo!

Yes, the Swedish singer-songwriter has gone ahead and repackaged her already superb album, Sunshine Kitty. I’m still not over “Really Don’t Like U” with Kylie Minogue.

“It’s been a year since the Sunshine Kitty era started, and though everything has hit on ‘pause’ right now, it feels really amazing to tie it all together with all the songs I’m so proud of from the last year,” Tove explained in a statement. “Until I can go back out and tour this album again I hope all my fans will keep having many dance parties at home.”

Not only does the Paw Prints Edition include a whole slew of remixes and live recordings of Sunshine Kitty highlights, as well as her two FINNEAS-produced songs, “Bikini Porn” and “Passion and Pain Taste The Same When I’m Weak,” but it also includes her excellent English cover of Veronica Maggio‘s gem “I’m Coming” and one brand new track, “sadder badder cooler.”

I’m sadder, I’m badder, I’m cooler, yeah/ Than I was when I met you…,” Tove declares across the electronic ELVIRA-produced soundscape; her voice distorted and almost mechanical along the throbbing pulse and hard-hitting hi-hats.

Tove clearly excels when it comes to being a little Tove Low. She’s Queen of the Clouds after all.

“Elvira Anderfjärd and I wrote ‘sadder badder cooler‘ after going deep about how every heart break kind of chips away a little piece of you, but it also gives you power if you let it,” Tove said. “And how breaking it off with someone who’s bad to you is always a mixed feeling of sadness, anger and big relief. This song to me is full of glitter and power and I hope it hits heavy with my fans.”

Even in the face of romantic ruin, Tove Lo remains the “Cool Girl.”

Heartbreak pays bills/ You lose, I win…” Yes, you do win girl.

Tove Lo’s “sadder badder cooler” is available on all streaming services now!
