“I should’ve stayed at home…,” Dua Lipa is serving up the right kind of messaging amid the ongoing world health crisis.
Thankfully, the “New Rules” hit-maker is one of the few pop diva’s keeping us dancing while most of us are forced to stay isolated. She’s just dropped her brand new single “Break My Heart,” the latest from her upcoming record, Future Nostalgia – and yes, it’s another banga!
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Dua is unfortunately unable to promote the album as originally intended. Therefore, we’re getting Future Nostalgia this Friday (March 27), instead of April 3rd.
“Break My Heart” – produced by The Monsters & Strangerz – is yet another bright and shimmering offering from Dua that sees her bringing dance-pop into the forefront with its strut-ready bassline, soaring strings and stomping, disco-tinged chorus that borrows from the INXS classic 1987 hit “Need You Tonight“: “I would’ve stayed at home/ ‘Cause I was doing better alone/ But when you said, “Hello”/ I knew that was the end of it all/ I should’ve stayed at home/ ‘Cause now there ain’t no letting you go…,” she sings. “Am I falling in love with the one that could break my heart?“
The song, like “Physical” and “Don’t Start Now” before it, continue to exemplify Future Nostalgia‘s mission statement; joyous pop bliss, boasted by slick and fresh, modern nods to the past. There’s just no stopping Dua this era. We simply don’t deserve this female alpha!
