Drink, smoke, dance, vibe a little bit…
After a pretty quiet year from music, Tinashe is back – and she’s not playing games this time around.
The Joyride songstress has partnered with South London rapper Ms. Banks to deliver “Die A Little Bit,” the first track to be lifted from her upcoming project Songs For You – her first full-length release since leaving RCA Records.
The Trackside-produced throb is equal parts shimmer and sass, as the “Player” princess gets sensual in the dark on the dance floor for what could surely be her most intriguing offering yet.
“Searching for something in someone without a soul/ Running in circles cuz I suck at letting go/ Starting to feel like there’s no chance of breaking through/” Plenty time wasted, what are we waitin’ for?,” she sensually croons across the buoyant slice of moody synth-pop production that sounds perfectly suited for a late-night Ibiza, NYC or Berlin rendezvous. “Drink, smoke, dance, vibe a little bit/ Fuck, change, ride, die a little bit!“
It’s a luscious throbber unlike anything we’ve heard from her before. I honestly wasn’t expecting much from Tinashe‘s combeack, but “Die A Little Bit” makes it very clear that she’s found herself in a good place once again.
An empowering display of creative power back to an artist who clearly shouldn’t have been limited by label executives in the first place.
