Charli XCX & Christine and the Queens Break Free Together On ‘Gone’!

Charli XCX is gearing up for the release of her long-awaited third studio album, Charli, September 13 via Atlantic. While 2017 brought us two noteworthy Charli mixtapes, Number 1 Angel and Pop 2, the new LP serves as a proper follow-up to 2014’s Sucker.

The singles we’ve heard so far, “Blame It On Your Love” and “1999,” saw the pop master-crafter teaming up with Lizzo and Troye Sivan. And the just premiered, “Gone” features Héloïse Adelaide Letissier of Christine And The Queens.

“This song is about feeling isolated and alone in crowded rooms,” Charli said in a statement. “The feelings of anxiety and learning to be comfortable with who you truly are. It’s about breaking down and breaking free.”

The track, produced by Nömak, Lotus IV & A. G. Cook, is slick and explosive, built around a pulsating synth beat. Charli keeps her signature style intact, taking nostalgic aesthetics – ’80s-like drums, infectious synths and robotic breakdowns – and blasting them to futuristic new heights.

It comes paired with a thrilling music video that features Chris and Charli bound to opposite ends of a car. They set themselves free and unite for an electric dance performance. It’s a pairing done right – I LOVE!

Charli XCX & Christine and the Queens’ “Gone” is also available on Spotify and Apple Music!
