As Kim Petras would say… Woo-Ah!
After closing Era 1 of her career with a tringle (three tracks at once) release back in February, the rising pop songstress is ready to get back into it with the release of her new single “Broken,” the first taste of Kim’s upcoming debut studio album.
As the title suggests, “Broken” sees Kim kicking off chapter two with an immediately personal record. Revealing a more vulnerable side than we’re used to hearing from her after pure pop bangers like “Heart To Break” and “I Don’t Want It At All.”
“You made it hurt too much/ Hope you got, hope you got/ Everything you want/ Pray to God, pray to God,” Kim aches on the tripping chorus. “That she leave you broken, broken (Hearted)/ Like you left me broken, broken (Hearted).”
The song is gentle, building across a more subtle and brooding instrumental production – but she isn’t completing wallowing in self-pity: “Hope you happy with your new bitch/ How you livin’?/ I’m in Paris in Marc Jacobs, life’s amazing/ When she leave you for your best friend/ That shit karma/ When you see me with my new dude/ That’s a come up.”
It may not scream smash single, but it certainly shows off a more mature, and heartfelt side to Kim. She’s peeling back those layers and I’m all ears!
