With “Superstar,” the second offering from her upcoming new album LOVE+FEAR, the talented singer-songstress is picking up the pace with an incredibly infectious love-pop confessional.
“Before I met you I pushed them all away/ Soon as I kissed you I wanted you to stay/ What I like about you is you know who you are…,” she begins.
Set against a pulverizing series of atmospheric sounds and hard-hitting, gritty beats — reminiscent of Electra Heart‘s brand of power pop — MARINA happily bares it all in the most intoxicating of ways: “I love the way we work so hard/ Yeah, we’ve come so far/ Baby, look at me, you’re my superstar/ When I’m afraid, when the world’s gone dark/ Come and save my day, you’re my superstar.”
It’s a winner baby! There are plenty of sweet hooks and even sweeter signature Marina howling (“Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh“) to keep this one on repeat. I’m fully ready for this album now…
