There’s just no stopping the machine that is P!nk.
After dropping her Grammy-nominated Beautiful Trauma in 2017 and embarking on a world tour (which she is still on until August of this year), the hit-making singer wasted no time hopping right back in the studio to record a follow-up to her seventh studio LP — and the just released “Walk Me Home” is our first taste of Round 8 titled Hurts 2B Human, which is expected to arrive in April.
Co-penned alongside her “Just Give Me a Reason“ collaborator Nate Ruess and Scott Harris (the Chainsmokers, Shawn Mendes), “Walk Me Home” finds P!nk seeking comfort in another across crashing drums and a steady twang of guitar acoustics and banjos.
“Walk me home in the dead of night/ I can’t be alone with all that’s on my mind, mhm,” she declares. “So say you’ll stay with me tonight/ ‘Cause there is so much wrong goin’ on outside…” It instantly feels like the stuff of shout-along therapy session, a therapeutic stadium anthem of sorts with some bluegrass in it’s roots.
While Pink‘s no stranger to a good ol’ healing anthem (see “What About Us“), “Walk Me Home” is probably one of P!nk‘s most genuinely instant offerings in years. It’s mature and timely, and just as much of an earworm – and that’s a very, very good thing.
