Sam Smith & Normani’s New Duet, ‘Dancing With A Stranger,’ Is Pop Perfection!

Say what you will about the departed Fifth Harmony, but the girls — or, at least, The Rising Solo Divas Of Fifth Harmony (you know which ones) — are really out here doing the damn thing for themselves.

All of Normani‘s promotional singles have been varying levels of “good,” but now we have one that is truly amazing — and that’s the much teased collaboration “Dancing With A Stranger” with Sam Smith.

The dreamy Jimmy Napes and Stargate-crafted track plays like a blend of Ariana Grande and The Weeknd‘s “Love Me Harder,” or even Lady Gaga’s “Do What U Want,” as the Oscar-winning Sam coos up against waves upon waves of warm synthesizers. “Look what you made me do, I’m with somebody new/ Ooh, baby, baby, I’m dancing with a stranger…

Although Sam and Normani are a somewhat random pairing on paper (well, it’s not all that random. Sam goes hard for 5H), the collaboration makes total sense in song, as the two trade sweetly crooned melodies across the slick and dreamy, disco-tinged pop production.

Normani is proving to be quite the vessel for some great pop in 2019, and I’m fully ready for the takeover. GET INTO IT!

Sam Smith & Normani’s “Dancing With A Stranger” is also available on Apple Music and Spotify!
