While I was on my much-needed hiatus, the ladies of Little Mix made their grand return with “Woman Like Me” featuring Nicki Minaj – an island-flavored bop all about celebrating incredible women in every shape and form.
Since then, the British foursome – comprised of Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall – have confirmed that their fifth studio album, titled LM5, will be released on November 16 via Columbia Records. The standard edition boasts 14 tracks, including “Woman Like Me,” while the deluxe edition comes with four bonus tracks.
This week, Little Mix have finally dropped the official visual for “Woman Like Me,” and it’s just as empowering and fabulous as the song itself. Directed by Marc Klasfeld, the clip finds the quartet attending finishing school where the training reinforces stereotypes of how women should supposedly properly act. They’re put through the paces of balancing books on their heads and practice how to eat using utensils in a certain way while minding their posture. Throughout, they manage to keep their sense of humor while serving a variety of fierce looks and tight choreography. As for Nicki, well, she is transformed into a literal work of art – a painting that comes to life as she delivers her verse.
It’s all very smartly done and the budget was clearly there for the talented foursome to execute their vision perfectly. With every era, Little Mix continue to grow and elevate themselves. It’s about time they get the recognition they deserve – I LIVE!
