It’s barely been two months since Troye Sivan blessed us with his stellar sophomore album Bloom, and he’s already back at it with some brand new music!
This time, Troye‘s providing his musical greatness to the upcoming original motion picture soundtrack for Boy Erased, which he also stars in alongside Lucas Hedges, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe and Joel Edgerton.
The film follows the story of Jared Eamons (Lucas), the son of a Baptist pastor in a small American town, who is outed to his parents (Nicole and Russell) as gay at the age of 19. Jared is quickly pressured into attending a gay conversion therapy program – or else be shunned by his family, friends, and church. It is within the program that Jared comes into conflict with its head therapist (Joel).
Alongside his Bloom cut “The Good Side,” Troye wrote “Revelation” specifically for the movie. It’s an intimate and slow building ballad that features Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi.
“It’s a revelation/ There’s no hell in what I’ve found/ No kingdom shout/ How the tides are changing,” Troye croons across the spacey atmospherics, lingering piano and cinematic strings. “As you liberate me now/ And the walls come down…“
It’s a beautiful contribution from Troye that is sure to be the perfect accompaniment to the film.
