The project from the L.A.-based producer already boasts an eclectic mix of productions, including “Pressure,” “Undo” featuring Jeremih and Tory Lanez, “I Wanna Know” featuring Daya, and now “Light Me Up,” which is certainly no exception.
RL infuses fluttering synths, comforting bells, and serene percussion elements beneath Miguel and Julia‘s soaring vocals on “Light Me Up,” adding onto the depth already present in the lyrical content. These two shimmer and glide across the complex production: “Yeah baby light me up/ You can breathe me in/ I’mma hold you up/ Until the quiet’s gone, woah/ Yeah baby light me up,” the duo croon on the hook. “You can breathe me in/ I’mma hold you up/ Until the quiet comes.”
Miguel and Julia are quite an unlikely pair on paper, but in song form it makes perfect sense.
