Azealia Banks may have reignited her feud with Nicki Minaj this week, but let’s not let that distract from the fact that she’s dropped another hot new song on this #NewMusicFriday: “Treasure Island“!
LIKE I’VE SAID BEFORE: While her antics may occasionally leave us all shaking our heads, the fact remains that Azealia Banks is an undeniable talent to be reckoned with. The dance-driven banger finds the Harlem rapper tapping into her inner aquatic rap-tress as she delivers spitfire rhymes and harmonious melodies across bass-heavy, clap-happy production. “Hips roll slow like the waves on the low tide/ The shoreline, you’re all mine/ Ugh, nigga I done gave you the co-sign/ The pussy so good niggas call it a gold mine,” she spits effortlessly.
“Treasure Island” marks the follow-up to Azealia‘s “Anna Wintour,” and is set to appear on Fantasea II: The Second Wave, the sequel to the 26-year-old rapper’s debut mixtape Fantasea and her first album under eOne records. While a release date has yet to be announced, Azealia has revealed one of the covers for the double disc set.
As it turns out, despite her destructive tendencies, Azealia still very much possess potential for greatness, and “Treasure Island” only continues to position her as one of the more exciting musical acts we have in the game right now.
Azealia Banks’ latest single “Treasure Island” is also available on Apple Music now!
