Guess who’s back in the house… After some much needed time off, it’s time to get back into the groove of updating!
Following her triumphant return with the Dâm-Funk-assisted “Girlfriend” back in May, Christine and the Queens has offered up another brand new track: “Doesn’t Matter,” the second offering from Chris – her just confirmed follow-up LP to 2014’s Chaleur Humaine – is “a crisis song that I wrote late one night,” she says in a press release. “This song is a cathedral, with a rhythm as unalterable as white stone. The bass line, I remember playing it for hours, as if to rock myself.”
Unlike the more disco-esque feel of “Girlfriend,” “Doesn’t Matter” finds the French darling lacing her earnest vocals across a much crunchier pop production. “It doesn’t matter, does it/ If I know any exit/ If I believe in god and if god does exist,” she croons across the kicky drum pulses. It’s lush, heartfelt, and there’s a French version too! You got options y’all.
The song comes accompanied by the premiere of it’s official music video – as directed by Colin Solal Card. She’s also now confirmed the tracklisting for Chris, which hits stores on September 21 and looks like this:
1. Comme si
2. Girlfriend (feat. Dâm-Funk)
3. The walker
4. Doesn’t matter
5. 5 dollars
6. Goya Soda
7. Damn (what must a woman do)
8. What’s-her-face
9. Feel so good
10. Make some sense
11. The stranger
