Counter-clockwise, she’s mixin’ it up up up!
The song is in fact the same “Sangria Wine” the two debuted on stage in Vancouver last month at the opening of Cabello‘s Never Be The Same Tour. Camila and Pharrell have reportedly been sitting on this track for a long period of time, so the pairing isn’t that surprising. After all, Pharrell did co-write Camila‘s #1 smash hit, “Havana.”
Much like “Havana,” “Sangria Wine” finds Pharrell and Camila grinding up against some blaring horns and Latin-flavored beats on the sassy, soon-to-be radio smash. “Honey said she want somebody break her off proper/ Man, she so relentless so nothing can stop her/ Never left the city (come on, man) but she swear she’s the darling (hey darling)/ It’s ’cause it’s so awesome how I move my body,” Pharrell and Camila trade off on the chorus. “She do the sangria wine (woo), sangria wine (uh-huh)/ Moving side to side (woo), front and behind (uh-huh).”
Truthfully, “Sangria Wine” sounds like it could sit comfortably in-between “She Loves Control” and “Inside Out” off of Camila‘s debut, but I don’t think it’s quite on the same level as “Havana.” With that said, it’s undeniably still a fun, solid bop that will inevitably be cemented into our brains very very soon. What do you guys think?
