“It’s about flowers,” he said…
Troye Sivan is jumping right back into things with a brand new single: “Bloom,” the third song and second single off of his highly anticipated follow-up to 2015’s Blue Neighbourhood, which is set to be released this summer.
“Bloom” which was co-written by LELAND and produced by Oscar Holter, the same talented producer whose had a hand in crafting some epic pop gems over the last few years (Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Run Away With Me,” Katy Perry‘s “Bon Appétit,” Astrid S‘ “Breathe,” Tove Lo‘s “True Disaster,” etc.), is a continuation of the almighty, spirit-shaking confident electronica sound of “My My My!“
“Take a trip into my garden. I’ve got so much to show ya,” Troye coos to his lover over sparse beats and spacey atmospherics on the opening lines. With its kicky drum pulse and sexy come-on’s, “Bloom” is a bit crunchier around the edges than Troye‘s first offering. The core of the song, though, is purely the stuff of lush pop heaven, especially that heaven-sent burst of a chorus: “(Yeah I bloom) I bloom just for you/ (I bloom) just for you/ (Yeah I bloom) I bloom just for you!“
The song is the very essence of Troye‘s whole vibe this time around — it’s the way he pairs love-drunk earnesty and vulnerability with slick songcraft that makes his music so appealing. It’s the sound of an artist who’s truly embraced himself and is ready to blossom indeed!
