ZAYN is here to take care of us… for the rest of our lives.
The last time we heard from the former One Direction crooner, he was laying down all his feels with Sia on their almighty ballad, “Dusk Till Dawn“! Since then, he’s spent most of his time laying low as he’s gone right back into the recording studio to begin anew.
But this week, ZAYN‘s back and all on his own again with “Let Me,” the “official” lead single off of his long-delayed sophomore album. Sonically, “Let Me” isn’t necessarily a change of pace for ZAYN, keeping the R&B-influenced groove of his 2016 debut Mind of Mine intact, only making one slight but crucial change: His falsetto is as smoother than ever.
“Baby, let me be your man/ So I can love you/ And if you let me be your man/ Then I’ll take care of you, you,” he sings across the dreamy and sensual, synth-driven production. “For the rest of my life, for the rest of yours/ For the rest of my life, for the rest of yours/ For the rest of ours.”
Really, this is the perfect move for ZAYN: Rather than attempting to give us trend-hopping radio bait, he’s staying true to his signature style and swerving straight into grown man in control territory, instead. I’m here for this!
