Halsey is no longer “Alone“! The “Now of Never” hit-maker has tapped Big Sean and rising British raptress Stefflon Don for the official remix to her latest single off of her second album, hopeless fountain kingdom, and I am THRILLED.
Sure, yes, I’ve had plenty of not so nice things to say about Halsey in the past, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t find “Alone” to be one of the strongest songs off hopeless fountain kingdom. The newly revamped version of the Ricky Reed-produced track finds Big Sean name-checking Biggie and Lil Cease and offering some TLC to a lonesome Halsey.
“When the last time you had somebody hug you? When the last time you had somebody love you?,” Sean asks, while Stefflon adds some of her signature island flavor on her bridge verse: “Stay up and have me all night on the rack/ You know we say me have the wickedest talk/ You always tell me, tell me pull the attitude/ And you don’t like me friend ’cause she rude.”
While I do love that “Alone” is deservedly getting the single treatment, I don’t think it needed this remix. The song is strong in its own right.
