Sofi Tukker are keeping the momentum going…
The New York City-based duo – Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern – have made huge strides over the last year, scoring their best showing yet on the Billboard charts with their NERVO, The Knocks, and Alisa Ueno-assisted single “Best Friend.”
Clearly, they’re not stopping this run of jungle-inspired dance pop music anytime soon, Sofi Tukker have announced that their long-awaited debut album, titled Treehouse, is finally due to be released on April 13 via Ultra Music. Comprised of 10 tracks, Treehouse features 4 previously-released singles – including their breakthrough hit, “Best Friend,” “Fuck They,” “Energia” and “JOHNY” – and 6 new tracks. Among the new songs is a collaboration with Triggrd singer Charlie Barker on “Good Time Girl” and “Batshit,” which is their first song to feature Tucker singing lead vocals.
“Baby I’m Your Queen” has been released as the fifth single today (March 9), while “Batshit” is set follow as a promotional single on April 6.
“I might prefer desire to self control/ I might prefer crying to being composed/ I might prefer chaos to even flow/ It’s too soon for sense though,” Sophie seductively chants across an array of game-like effects, infectious bass guitar, and other instruments before an explosive post-chorus drops comes crashing through the speakers. It’s a free-for-all banger that exudes confidence and I am all about it.
“This song is about standing up as strong and powerful,” Sofi Tukker said in a statement – Listen below!
