This is not a drill: Delta Goodrem is back.
The Australian pop diva has officially returned to take us to bedroom with a brand new sexy single called “Think About You.” Along with her first track in nearly two years, Delta‘s also debuting a fierce new brunette look! (At first quick glance, admittedly, I thought Bella Hadid that you?)
“Think About You,” produced by dream team John Ryan (Hey Violet, Maroon 5, Thomas Rhett) and Julian Bunetta (Niall Horan, Selena Gomez, One Direction), is very clear shift in sound for Delta. She’s straying far away from her almighty, adult-contemporary ballad roots and going super minimal, moody and modern.
“I’ve got this habit, and I just can’t stop/ Every time I look at you, your clothes are coming off,” Delta confesses in the beginning before getting right to the point on the immediately infectious hook: “I’m just gonna say it and I don’t know how you’ll take it/ I think about you naked when I’m looking at you/ My imagination got me losing concentration/ I think about you naked when I’m looking at you.”
Delta is straight-up serving breathy seduction above a Prince-lite dance-pop beat – but that first chorus go-around is merely a tease. Each time she hits that chorus, the song swells with more voices and more intricate production. And by the time she reaches that bridge (“I need a way to get this started/ Get you out of my head and get you in my arms, yeah!“), Delta‘s truly taken us to church — in whips and chains, of course.
And that’s how you kick off a new era. Delta‘s got herself another soon-to-be #1!
