The Chainsmokers Continue Trip To The Dark Side On New Single, ‘You Owe Me’!

The Chainsmokers‘ trip to the dark side continues with their brand new single, “You Owe Me“!

Much like their aggressive emo-pop anthem “Sick Boy” last month, now as part of a 2-sided single cleverly titled Sick Boy… You Owe Me, “You Owe Me” sees the Grammy Award-winning duo trading EDM bombast for palm-muted, pop-punk guitars on this a moody, alt-pop, and raw take on… fame and depression?

You don’t know me/ Don’t you think that I get lonely?/ It gets dark inside my head/ Check my pulse and if I’m dead you owe me/ If you’re lonely/ Don’t you think you’re on your own/ When it gets dark inside your head/ Check my pulse and if I’m dead you owe me,” Andrew croons.

While “You Ow Me” isn’t any less emo-leaning than “Sick Boy,” it’s certainly a more Chainsmokers-esque return to form. It feels like a much more natrual transition than “Sick Boy” did with it’s sleek synth line and brief, swooping EDM explosion towards the end. I ain’t mad at it.

The duo has also released the official video for the track. Watch the video, directed by longtime collaborator Rory Kramer, below!

The Chainsmokers’ latest single “You Owe Me” is also available on Apple Music and Spotify now!
