The Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar Reunite For ‘Black Panther’ Soundtrack On ‘Pray For Me’!

The Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack ain’t the only one bringing it with genuinely great new music offerings! Earlier this week, Kendrick Lamar revealed the star-studded tracklisting for the soundtrack to Disney and Marvel’s highly-anticipated superhero film Black Panther, which he curated and produced with Top Dawg Entertainment and CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith.

SZA appears alongside K-Dot on the soaring lead single “All the Stars,” while Future, Jay Rock, and James Blake pop up on “King’s Dead.” And now, following their Starboy collaboration “Sidewalks,” The Weeknd and Kendrick reunite on “Pray for Me” for Black Panther: The Album.

Over the hard-hitting cinematic production, courtesy of Matt Schaeffer, Cardo, Cubeatz and Sounwave, Weeknd takes the lead: “Who gon’ pray for me?/ Take my pain for me?/ Save my soul for me?/ ‘Cause I’m alone you see,” he croons before Kendrick swoops in with a heroic verse: “Who need a hero? (hero)/ You need a hero, look in the mirror, there go he, hero/ Who on the front lines at Ground Zero? (hero)/ My heart don’t skip a beat, even when hard times bumps the needle/ Mass destruction and mass corruption/ Their souls are sufferin’ men.”

Based off the thrilling trailers, it’s quite easy to see how this collaboration would fit into the film. It’s dark, thought provoking and unquestionably powerful. Bring on the rest!

The Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar’s “Pray For Me” is available on Apple Music and Spotify now!
