Justin Timberlake has finally unleashed his fourth studio album Man of the Woods! And to mark the occasion, the “Can’t Stop The Feeling” hit-maker has dropped the official music video for the LP’s title track, “Man of the Woods“!
Directed by Paul Hunter, the clip is #4 of four pre-release visuals J.T lined-up to promote the 16-track collection. Indeed, it’s preceded by “Filthy,” “Supplies,” and “Say Something” with Chris Stapleton. The video directly leans into the folky, campfire imagery of the album’s title, as Justin dances through the wilderness and zip-lines from treehouses and even ballroom dances in log cabin with his wife Jessica Biel.
I’m underwhelmed yet again. As cute as the song’s sentiment may be, I think it’d be better if Justin just stayed in the woods until this era is over. Talk about dropping the ball. I had so much hope with “Filthy” and it was depleted with everything that followed. “Man of the Woods” is the final nail in the coffin. I’ll force myself to give the album a proper listen, but I’ll be honest and say I have little to no interest at this point.
Both the album and video arrive just two days before Timberlake takes to the stage at the Super Bowl 2018 Halftime Show in Minneapolis. Yay?
