The warning signs have all been there in the past few months: Troye Sivan is back bitches and he’s really not playin’!
It’s hard to believe that it’s already been three years since the YouTuber-turned-singer-songwriter first stole our hearts away with his impressively stunning debut album, Blue Neighborhood, back in 2015. One of 2015’s Very Best, in case you forgot.
Everything about Troye‘s grand return feels spot-on (the promo images, the new blonde hair) and now we know officially that the music is, too. “My My My!” is our first taste of Troye‘s upcoming LP due out this Spring, and it’s pretty damn perfect. Seriously.
The track, produced by Oscar Görres (Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Britney Spears, etc.) and co-written with longtime collaborator Leland, is an almighty, spirit-shaking confident reintroduction that sees Troye‘s true passion shine through like never before. It’s very signature Troye Sivan too, between the breathy whispers and coos and that “Oh my, my my!” in the chorus, which is thoroughly amazing/everything/the best part of the entire song, really. Also it comes equipped with a much grittier electro pulse compared to the more intimate offerings on Blue Neighborhood.
What else can I say? Troye came and truly delivered. The modern gay pop icon we’ve been waiting for has arrived and he’s here to stay/slay.
In a statement, Troye says that “‘My My My!‘ is a song of liberation, freedom, and love. Throw all inhibition to the wind, be present in your body, love wholeheartedly, move the way you’ve always wanted to, and dance the way you feel – hopefully even to this song!”
The release comes accompanied by the steamy music video, directed by Grant Singer, and features Troye fiercely stomping and gyrating his way through an empty warehouse and grimy interiors. It’s a moment – Watch below!
