Eminem Joins Forces With Beyoncé For First Time On Comeback Single, ‘Walk On Water’!

Guess who’s back? Back again. Shady’s back!

Four years after the release of his last album The Marshall Mathers LP 2, Eminem returns with his new single “Walk On Water” featuring none other than Queen Beyoncé! The introspective song, which was produced by Rick Rubin and co-produced by Skylar Gray, kicks off with Bey‘s angelic croonnig over the simplest of piano melodies: “I walk on water, but I ain’t no Jesus,” she sings. “I walk on water, but only when it freezes.”

From there, Em raps about his drug addiction and expectations. “Always in search of the verse that I haven’t spit yet,” he raps. “Will this step just be another misstep / To tarnish whatever the legacy, love, or respect I’ve garnered?” He goes on to praise legends like Nas, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., LL Cool J and Prince, while downplaying his own achievements. “Kids look to me as a God,” he continues. “This is retarded / If only they knew it’s a facade / And it’s exhaustive.”

Bey mostly just provides the soft breaks in-between Em‘s rapping, but it serves as a nice juxtaposition when paired alongside the aggressiveness. This is the first dose of what fans can expect from Eminem‘s upcoming album Revival, which is expected to arrive Nov. 17. He will also perform at the MTV EMA on Sunday (Nov. 12) and on Saturday Night Live on Nov. 18.

Eminem’s new single “Walk On Water” with Beyoncé is also available on Apple Music and Spotify!
