Rachel Platten Lets Go Of All Her Inhibitions On ‘Waves’ Standout, ‘Collide’!

Turn the lights on, honey, Rachel Platten don’t wanna hide…

With just one week left to go until she drops Waves in full on October 27, the “Fight Song” hit-maker is giving us one more reassuring glimpse into the LP with the premiere of “Collide” – our third taste following lead single “Broken Glass” and “Perfect For You.”

Surrounded by chilly atmospherics, hi-hats and dreamy strings, Rachel sweetly admits her wrongs and surrenders her inhibitions to her lover. “Turn the lights on, honey, honey, I don’t wanna hide/ Turn the lights on, honey, I’m surrendering tonight/ Although I’m not perfect, I feel perfect in your eyes,” Rachel assures on the hook. “Turn the lights on, honey, I don’t really wanna hide, not tonight/ Come and crash into me ’cause I want us to collide/ Collide, collide, collide…

It’s by far the most interesting production we’ve heard Rachel lay her voice on, and easily a standout off of her upcoming album Waves, which is already proving to be some of her best pop work yet. I think I may be turning into a Rachel Platten stan… Help?

“‘Collide‘ is about not wanting to hide yourself and being super comfortable with the person that you’re with — so comfortable that you want to leave the lights on,” Rachel told People. “I wrote it on a day when I was feeling extra into my husband and how he makes me feel perfect in my skin.”

Rachel has also announced an exclusive run of shows in select markets next month in support of her new album Waves. These shows, sponsored by the women’s intimates and apparel brand, Aerie, will kick off on November 6 in Boston. Rachel will also perform at intimate venues in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

Rachel Platten’s latest “Collide” is also available on Apple Music and Spotify now!
