“It’s the guy from the one band…” Louis Tomlinson‘s got a lot of feelings and here’s here to share them with you all!
Following the release of his Bebe Rexha-assisted lead single “Back To You” back in July, the former One Direction member premieres a new song called “Just Like You,” as a special fan track release.
The mid-tempo cut – crafted by Louis alongside BURNS and Jesse Thomas – sees Louis lacing his husky vocals on-top of an array of chilly atmospherics and hi-octane bright pop beats. It’s solid enough. Lyrically though, “Just Like You” sees Louis opening up like never before, letting his fans know that he’s emotionally just the same as them. It’s one of those I’m-feeling-some-type-of-way-about-all-this-fame-I-have songs.
“So I wrote a song called ‘Just Like You‘ a few months ago. After a few conversations with the label I told them that I wanted to release it. My next single will be a bit later this year but I wanted to share this with you now,” Louis said in a statement. “I’m really attached to ‘Just Like You,’ which is all about this view of celebrities that we’re impenetrable and almost not human, but fundamentally we all have the same problems. Heartbreak feels the same, loss feels the same, all these feelings are the same for all of us. Mine just look a load different to, maybe, Tom who works in the chippy from nine to five.”
It gets the job done just as a “special fan track release,” but I really hope the subject matter doesn’t become a frequent lyrical theme in Louis‘ solo material. We get it, you’re human.
