This week’s Song of the Week is a bit more of a somber affair from music supergroup, LIV!
In case you weren’t aware: LIV is the brand new band consisting of Swedish goddess Lykke Li, producer Jeff Bhasker, Miike Snow‘s Andrew Wyatt and Pontus Winnberg, and Björn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John.
Since arriving with their first single “Wings of Love” last year, we’ve heard nothing but impressive singles by the talented fivesome, from the haunting “Dream Awake” and the dreamy “Heaven.” But why stop there?
This month, LIV return with yet another dreamy production called, “Hurts to liv,” that may very well be their most personal yet (and quite possibly my favorite from them). It’s touching tribute to Li and Wyatt’s deceased parents driven by soft acoustics and slow-moving drum beat. “It’s been a very spiritual, beautiful, and life-awakening cycle,” Lykke told Vogue. “Creating and giving birth to a baby boy, losing a mother—as well as Andrew’s father—and to be able to put into song life’s suffering before it even happened. Sometimes we forget to live and be loved, cause it hurts to live.”
