Anne-Marie has undeniably reached a new level of success over the last year thanks her consistent run of high-profile collaborations with the likes of Snakehips (“Either Way“), Nick Jonas (“Remember I Told You“) and Clean Bandit on their worldwide smash “Rockabye” with Sean Paul.
But aside from collaborations, the rising English talent has also done a good job of carving out her own niche as a solo musical act with a number of high quality solo tracks, including “Alarm” and “Ciao Adios.”
Anne returns with yet another solo cut this week called “Heavy,” and this one is certainly no exception. The track is as immediate as the rest of what we’ve already heard from her, but with a more subtle — dare I say, “safe” — sound than Anne‘s typically, robust genre-blurring affair. That doesn’t make it any less great though!
“When did it get so heavy?/ This love that’s in between us/ We never used to feel this/ Feels so heavy (heavy)/ Can’t get up off the ground (up off the ground)/ It’s weighing us down,” Anne croons across the breezy, tropical-tinged production. It’s sad disco on the dancefloor in its purest form – WIN!
