After making waves with her irresistibly good debut EP Lé Funk earlier this year, NYC based songstress-DJ-model MAAD is already back at it with satisfying slice of R&B-tinged goodness perfectly suited for your weekend.
Unlike the majority of her, well, funky debut Lé Funk, her latest called “Wonderland” is a purely sensual, hypnotic production.
Featuring a verse from Brooklyn native Jimi Tents, the pair showcase their undeniable chemistry and fuse both of their sounds on the track, which is lifted from MAAD‘s forthcoming EP release. Produced by Lostboy (Anne-Marie, Becky Hill) and co-written with Hannah Yadi (Frank Gamble, Felix Snow), “Wonderland” is an electronic synth-pop banger that puts MAAD‘s limitless versatility on display all while staying true to her signature, ’90’s R&B-influenced stylings. With every release she continues to show more more depth to her artistry and I’m completely MAAD about it – Listen below!
“The creative process behind ‘Wonderland‘ was such a special one,” MAAD told Billboard. “I worked on the track with Lostboy and Hannah Yadi on the final day of my London trip earlier this year, and when writing, Hannah had me jot down a ton of feelings and thoughts on paper. I had never written a song this way before, but it was the first time I was thinking more about my feelings instead of the song’s structure and I couldn’t be any happier with the way it came to life.”
