The Saturdays’ Mollie King Lets Her ‘Hair Down’ On Horn(y)-Heavy Solo Single!

It’s Friday, Friday… and you know what that means: It’s time to let your hair down, and dance bitches!

Mollie King (of UK girl group The Saturdays fame) is ready to do all of the above in more ways than one as a contestant on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, as well as with the release of brand new single called: “Hair Down,” produced by iconic UK production team Xenomania!

The track, which serves as the official follow-up to her moody debut “Back To You,” is a playful blend of some of Xenomania‘s finest and most spirited creations, fitting somewhere between the campy, euro-pop dance beats of Girls Aloud and the chant-y, girl-power infectiousness of The Saturdays (hello “All Fired Up“).

Gotta let my hair down, I just wanna dance now/ Gotta let my hair down, I just wanna dance/ Don’t call, I’m not home/ Somebody’s got to run the show/ Caller busy tone, I’ll be the one to let you know…,” Mollie playfully commands during the chorus, unleashing her inner cheerleader. Yet the song is completely erratic (in a very chaotic way), bouncing aggressively between its manic dance beats and blaring horns: The chanted chorus is drastically different from the sassy spoken verses, resulting in a weird, wonderfully left-of-center pop single: It’s dramatic, ridiculous and unapologetically fun. She’s got me screaming, “NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA“!

Mollie King’s new single “Hair Down” is also available on Apple Music and Spotify!
