“Sorry Not Sorry” Taylor Swift, but you ain’t the only one who’s got some big news this week…
Following the announcement that she will be hitting the stage at this weekend’s 2017 MTV VMAs, Demi Lovato has revealed that her sixth studio album, titled Tell Me You Love Me, will be released on September 29th. Yupp, the same day Miley Cyrus‘ Younger Now, Dolly Parton‘s I Believe In You and Shania Twain‘s comeback album NOW arrives. It’s a battle of the divas!
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL: Today (August 24), along with the gorgeous black-and-white artwork, Demetria has dropped off the upcoming LP’s title track in celebration of the pre-order: “Tell Me You Love Me“!
The power ballad sees the songstress ditching the infectious dance beats of “Sorry Not Sorry” in favor of some organic instrumentation that includes everything from blaring horns, hard-hitting percussion and lingering piano melodies. The result is something of a cross between a Kelly Clarkson and Alicia Keys record, as Demi bares her soul atop the much more raw, John Hill and Stint-production. “Oh, tell me you love me/ I need someone on days like this, I do/ On days like this/ Oh, tell me you love me/ I need someone/ On days like this, I do/ On days like this…,” Demi powerfully croons in the hook, in what is surely one of her most rousing and soulful recordings yet.
But seriously, I love hearing Demi like this. She’s already established herself as a true pop diva, so it’s nice to hear what she can do when it’s less about trying to make a smash. Demi lets her voice do all the talking. Looking forward to this album!
