This week’s Song of the Week comes from rising DJ-producer Marshmello!
After the recent release of his smooth original “LoVe U,” and his “Find Me” music video just last week, Marshmello is now aiming to breakout in a much larger scale with the release of “Silence,” his much-teased collaboration with Khalid!
The emotional banger tells the story of someone struggling with their own well-being and confidence in developing relationships. “Yeah, I’d rather be a lover than a fighter/ ‘Cause all my life, I’ve been fighting/ Never felt a feeling of comfort/ All this time, I’ve been hiding…,” Khalid croons. As the song builds, Khalid expresses the newfound strength he’s found to overcome fears of talking, he’s ready to break the “silence” he’s felt trapped in up until now.
“I found peace in your violence/ Can’t tell me there’s no point in trying/ I’m at one, and I’ve been silent for too long…,” Khalid sings ahead of the song’s future-bass, post-chorus drop. “I’ve been quiet for too long/ I’ve been quiet for too long.” It’s electro-pop done right.
