It’s a great day to hit the slopes…
In between producing songs for Bebe Rexha (“I Got You“), The Chainsmokers (“Break Up Every Night“) and most recently Neon Trees (“Feel Good“), the guys of Captain Cuts have found the time to release a brand new single called “Cocaina” featuring Rich The Kid and Daniels, the official follow-up to their impressive 2016 debut “Love Like We Used To.”
Chopping up lines of funk guitars, island swagger, blaring horns and high-octane pop beats, “Cocaina” is an addictive summer groove that’s immediately impossible to shake off. I mean, the hook alone is total earworm: “She like the night life ’cause she know everybody/ She like my big house, she throw my afterparties/ She really like me, but she, she love that cocaina/ Cocaina…,” Daniels declares.
About the song, Ryan McMahon of Captain Cuts shares, “We had just come back from a week of writing in Nicaragua with Daniels and a couple friends. Sitting in our dark studio in L.A., we were imagining ourselves back on the beach in Nicaragua and came up with that acoustic guitar riff and all of the Latin percussion. The vibe definitely felt like the lyric needed to be fun and not serious. So, we started talking about falling in love with a party girl who may or may not be a drug dealer…And ‘Cocaina’ was born.”
