Baby take it or leave it, ’cause Selena Marie Gomez is indeed all grown up now.
After days of teasing, the Revival Queen has kept her promise and released her brand new single, “Fetish” featuring Gucci Mane – And like the title suggests, she’s clearly feeling herself and asserting her sexuality on the entirely unbothered, unapologetically sexy, Jonas Jeberg and The Futuristics-crafted throb, which is the official second offering from her as-of-yet-untitled upcoming record, following “Bad Liar.”
“Take it or leave it/ Baby take it or leave it/ But I know you won’t leave it/ ‘Cause I know that you need it,” Selena declares off the top of the track, instantly becoming the song’s signature lyric–well, one of: In fact, every inch of “Fetish” is quotable (“I’m not surprised/ I sympathize/ I can’t deny/ Your appetite.”)–especially when it comes time for the chorus: “You got a fetish for my love/ I push you out and you come right back/ Don’t see a point in blaming you/ If I were you, I’d do me too…,” Selena confidently purrs above the chilly pulse.
It’s essentially “Good For You” 2.0, or even a more pop-driven take on the Lana Del Rey formula (think “Off To The Races” and “High By The Beach“), from the trap-like beats to those signature breathy, echoed melodies to the string-filled, slow-building cinematic production. It’s Selegend Del Rey.
This is era is certainly proving to be Selena‘s most unpredictable one yet — I mean, the artwork alone is a major game-changer in my eyes — and she’s doing the damn thing whether you take it or leave it. Do you wanna be nearer?
