Life’s about to get good, indeed, now that Shania Twain‘s back at it again!
Fifteen years after the release of her 2002 fourth studio album Up!, the legendary country-pop superstar has returned with a brand new groove called “Life’s About To Get Good,” the lead single from her forthcoming album NOW (due out September 29) — and you without a doubt, yes, she’s still the one.
Written by Shania herself and produced by Jon ALi favorite Matthew Koma, “Life’s About To Get Good” keeps things firmly put in Shania‘s country roots as we’ve expected from her for decades (but with fresher beats), blissfully crooning in her signature twang above a giddy beat and sparkling synths while delivering her uplifting message.
As the title suggests, this one’s all about being broken down, but rising above in spite of everything — a self-empowerment anthem, yes, loaded with the same kind of sincerity you’d come to expect from a Shania Twain gem.
“Oh! Life’s about joy/ Life’s about pain/ It’s all about forgiving and the will to walk away,” she sings on the infectious hook. “I’m ready to be loved/ And love the way I should/ Life’s about/ Life’s about to get good…“
Shania‘s obviously no stranger to supplying inspiration, and she continues to do so in “Life’s About To Get Good.” There are plenty of sparkling melodies (“Oh, life’s about to get good“) and a massive chorus, but the best part, obviously, is just having Shania back. Period.
“I chose this as the lead single because, first of all, it’s very energizing, and I really felt that I needed to feel that positive energy, first coming back out again after so long,” Shania told iHeartRadio. “It just puts me in a good mood, and lifts me up, and also reflects on my true state of mind over these last few years that have been challenging. So, the song is about truth, pain, optimism, joy in pain, and it says everything I want to say after being gone so long.”
