It’s been almost exactly a year since we last heard some new music from my girl MoXiiE, whose low-key been providing us with some genuinely amazing alt-R&B greatness since 2012 – from “Dancing In The Dirt” to her Savage LP to “Anyway” to “Jilted” to “Chaos” to last year’s enticing “FVRS.”
The Brooklyn-based songstress makes her grand 2017 return with “Don’t See You,” and it’s seriously something – one of her strongest tracks to date.
The bass-heavy cut, produced by her frequent collaborator Fredro, sees the silky-voiced songstress getting lost in a fucks-free reverie of woke-ness as she throws shots at the one who left her behind. “Let you get too close to me/ I let you get too close/ Crazy shit is that I had a feelin’, stay woke/ Try to give you benefit of the doubt you lost/ Fuckin’ up the trust/ You went there, but at what cost?“
It’s not just a blame game though, by the the time we reach the hook, MoXiiE‘s already learned her lesson – she’s risen above and moved on: “Now I don’t see you, I don’t see you no more (Whoo)/ I don’t see you, I don’t see you no more…,” she declares above light electronic pulsations and cosmic synthesizers. It’s truly a trip.
With each release, MoXiiE‘s only continuing to showcase more growth, depth and dimension to her artistry. I SEE YOU MoXiiE!
