Following the release of “Scared To Be Lonely” with rising songstress Dua Lipa at the top of the year, the 20-year-old Dutch producer has revealed his much-anticipated collaboration with pop prince Troye Sivan, “There For You,” which was first premiered live during Martin‘s set at the 2017 Coachella Festival back in April.
Surrounded by infectious finger-snaps, and heavenly chord progressions, the “Youth” hit-maker sweetly assures that he’ll be there for you when you fall – as long as you’re there for him too (it takes two to tango): “So when your tears roll down your pillow like a river/ I’ll be there for you/ I’ll be there for you/ When you’re screaming, but they only hear you whisper/ I’ll be loud for you/ I’ll be loud for you,” Troye croons ahead of the song’s slick bass drop, as expected.
The most interesting part of the whole production comes after the two minute mark, as the track suddenly dives into a brief, dreamy breakdown of soft atmospherics and electronic beats, allowing Troye‘s superb lyricism to take center stage on not one, but two bride takes (bless). “But I’m holding on to something/ Wake up if you feel nothing/ I’m running, running, just to keep my hands on you…“
The song is more mellow than Martin‘s typical sound, but it without a doubt works with the marriage of Troye‘s star power – he’s the cherry on top, the nuts, the sauce, the cream and the banana, too.
Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan’s “There For You” is also available on Apple Music now!
