God bless Lauv!
You’ll no doubt remember the talented LA-based singer-songwriter-producer from his unstoppable 2015 debut “The Other,” as well as the rest of his Lost In The Light EP, the Travis Mills-assisted “Question,” and the almighty “Breathe.” Undeniable gems, for sure… and he only continues to impress!
This month in celebration of his 8-city Late Nights, Deep Talks Tour, Lauv is back with “I Like Me Better,” an infectious serenade comprised of a minimal melody and Lauv‘s soft croons that sees him getting in tune with his feelings as he confesses his love: “I like me better when I’m with you/ I like me better when I’m with you/ I knew from the first time, I’d stay for a long time cause/ I like me better when I’m with you,” he sings on the hook before it builds slowly towards a stuttered and subdued electro-pop breakdown.
“Being vulnerable is the hardest thing for so many people, including myself, but it’s also the most satisfying thing,” Lauv told Billboard. “In day-to-day life there’s so much that’s calculated: so many fake, surface-level interactions that don’t amount to anything. Getting away from that and being completely real in my music has been so cathartic for me, and my hope is that my songs can somehow empower people to be real with themselves and with other people too.”
There’s a lot to love about “I Like Me Better,” and it’s quite nice to hear Lauv offer up something more on the upbeat side. Get into it!
